Double for Kia in Gold Star Cars

Monday, 10 November 2014
Kia’s quality and value has caught the judges’ eye with a double Gold Medal result in Wheels magazine’s prestigious Gold Star Value Awards.

The Wheels’ experts have awarded the top gong to the Kia Sorento Si in the Large SUV/4WD category and to the all-new Rondo Si in the People-movers under $60k bracket.

Backing up the gold medal performances, Kia also collected a pair of silver medals for the Sportage Si in the Compact SUV under $45k class and the stylish Optima Si for the Medium under $45k category. To round out the podium performance, the Cerato S scored a bronze result for the Small under $25k category.

In assessing the contenders, Wheels magazine considers more than 200 hopefuls to find a single winner in each of the 20 categories.

“We take the cream of the crop in a number of vehicle classes - just about all of them, in fact - and break each car down into key cost components such as annual fuel cost, insurance premiums and depreciation, then feed the data into a clever set of formulae,” explains the magazine.

What comes out the other end is an elite collection of Australia’s best value cars.
