International driver program makes a world of difference

Monday, 1 November 2010
DriverSafety.com.au has signed a contract with BP North America to deliver an International Familiarisation Driver Program for its Australian-bound employees.

The purpose of the program is to ensure that staff members understand the region’s specific road rules and they are familiar with local driving conditions in order to feel comfortable and safe driving in another country.

The three hour program includes one hour simulator training on a variety of Australian driving conditions, a 40 minute briefing on Australian road rules as well as a one hour on the road including a practice negotiating Melbourne’s unique ‘hook turns’.

“Participants found it very worthwhile with many of saying that they had learned plenty about better driving technique,” said Gary Rigg, general manager of DriverSafety.com.au.

On completion of the program, participants also received a certificate of completion of a copy of Russell White’s book Drive Ability.
