We talk a lot about driver distraction on Behind the Wheel and with good reason – as many as a quarter of all accidents are caused by driver distraction.

Now a study undertaken by the University of California has found the ban on using mobile phones while driving in California is saving lives. The study found overall traffic deaths dropped 22% since the ban was introduced.

Deaths blamed on drivers using hand-held, or hands free mobile phones were down nearly 50%.

So there are some good reasons to make sure you follow Australian laws and don’t talk, text, or email when on the go.
